It's not every day that your best friend gets married. What started as a small hope many years earlier of having me design Nicolle's wedding invitation, ultimately resulted in a multi-piece collection of materials created through months of video chatting, late-night emails with Dolly Parton songs as subject lines, and a healthy dose of revisions before realizing that the best watercolor mountains were actually my first attempt. This project helped rebuke my imposter syndrome, thanks to Nicolle, my biggest fan and graphic design hype woman.
Inspiration came through years of late-night college dorm room Pinterest scrolling and Wide Eyes Paper Co's quadruple-fold wedding invitations with tear-off RSVP card.
Gavin's proposal to Nicolle in front of Mount Rainier on a trip to Washington state inspired the mountain imagery, while Gavin and Nicolle's dog Samson was represented on the illustrated back.
The project eventually grew to include Save the Dates, ceremony programs, and a die-cut wedding cake topper.
